Morten Pedersen (born in 1980) is a Danish pianist, composer, organist and improviser based in Copenhagen.
Graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Esbjerg in 2007.
Morten is leading his own 5tet (Francesco Bigoni/Håkon Berre/Johannes Nästesjö/Tomasz Dabrowski/Håkon Berre) and the trio The Mighty Mouse (Håkon Berre/Thommy Andersson). Original material with lots of room for open improvisation, a steady groove and sound scapes.
Besides having a strong and personel voice as a composer and improviser, Morten also works as sideman in bands playing swing, modern jazz and folk music with norwegian singer and composer, Susanne Arnesen.
Morten has made collaborations with artists such as Bob Gullotti, Maria Faust, Thommy Andersson, Lisbeth Diers, Axel Dörner, Peter Friis-Nielsen, Kasper Tranberg and Petter Wettre, with whom he has been playing clubs and festivals in Denmark and Europe.
With The Mighty Mouse, Morten has been composing music for art exhibitions and performed at several museums such as The National Gallery of Denmark.
Morten is a member and co-founder of the musician run collective and label, Barefoot Records.
